La Roja won the semi-final match against Portugal and qualified for the final in The Confederations Cup 2017! The Chileans finished in second position of their group B, which meant they will play the Fernando Santos’ players in the semi-finals, but the Juan Antonio Pizzi’s men showed a great team spirit and eliminated the European champions from the competition.
The Portuguese players started better, pressing the opponent deeply. A few minutes from the beginning of the game Cristiano Ronaldo made a beautiful pass to his teammate Andre Silva, but the forward made a disappointing miss from several metres. Eduardo Vargas of Chile also found himself one on one with Rui Patricio, but the goalkeeper managed to keep his sheet clean.
The second half of the game was very boring, as the team of Chile had more possession of the ball, but none of the teams created good goal-scoring chances. Ronaldo was very close to score a goal, but his shot in the 75th minute deflected from a defender’s leg and went inches wide.
Portugal’s and Chile’s players looked too tired in the extra time of the game and kept playing slowly. However, in the very end of the game Arturo Vidal hit the post from outside the box and then Rodriguez tried to tap in the ball, but he also hit the woodwork, which preserved the Portugal’s ambitions for the final.
Claudio Bravo was the big hero for Chile. The goalkeeper of Manchester City saved 3 shots from the penalty spot, which secured the comfortable 3-0 victory for the Chileans after penalties. One the other hand, none of the Chile’s players missed a penalty. So, this will be Chile’s third final from a big international competition within the last 3 years! Chile won Copa America twice in a row (2015 and 2016) and now the Juan Antonio Pizzi’s men will try to add another prestigious trophy to their showcase.

The teams of Germany and Australia have always offered a great show for the football fans. This time the Germans won the game 3-2 and took their first 3 points in group B of the Confederations Cup.
The World Cup winners seemed to be very strong in the very beginning of the game and they deservedly took the lead against Australia in the 5th minute. Julian Brandt provided Lars Stindl with a wonderful assist and the attacker of Borussia Monchengladbach scored his first goal with the colours of his nation. The Australians hardly kept the ball in their possession, but shockingly found the net from their second good chance in the match. The midfielder of Celtic Tom Rogic scored with a shot from outside the box. Then, it seemed that the first half will finish with a draw, but the referee pointed the spot for a penalty just a minute before the break. The captain of Germany Julian Draxler converted the penalty into a goal and gave his team the lead for the second time in the match.
The Kangaroos played better during the second half, but they allowed an early goal, which was scored by Leon Goretzka. The midfielder made a great movement and received a superb pass by Joshua Kimmich. That was Goretzka’s first senior intrenational goal. The final score was fixed by Tomi Juric, who took advantage of a poor goalkeeping by Leverkusen’s goalkeeper Bernd Leno in the 56th minute. Juric showed a great piece of skills again 10 minutes later, but his team couldn’t equalize again. The coach of Australia subbed Tim Cahill on 5 minutes before the end of the match, but the Kangaroos’ legend couldn’t affect the outcome.
However, even though the German team was full of inexperienced players – they managed to take the three points. On the other hand, Australia still have a chance to find a place in the semi-finals, but The Kangaroos must win their next game against Cameroon.

Another unique drama in the battle between Scotland and England! The Scotsmen were a minute away from taking the three points against The Three Lions, but Harry Kane found the net in the 3rd minute of the added time. The match eventually finished with a 2-2 draw.
There were lots of goal-scoring chances during the whole game, but all the four goals were scored in the last 20 minutes of the match. Both goalkeepers were the key players until the 70th minute. Even though there wasn’t a goal in the first 70 minutes of the match – it was faraway from boring! Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain opened the score for England. The Arsenal player showed good individual skills and found the net with a shot from inside the box. However, Scotland didn’t give up. Leigh Griffiths became the hero for the hosts. The Celtic forward scored twice from a free-kick to turn things around for Scotland (87′ and 90′). The hosts couldn’t resist the pressure from their opponent in the third minute of the added time, when Harry Kane put the ball into the net.
Slovakia and Slovenia recorded victories in their matches, which means that England’s participation in the World Cup is faraway from sure. The Three Lions are lying in the first place with 14 points after 6 games, but the second-placed Slovakia are with 12 points! Slovenia have won 11 points, while Scotland are in 4th place (8 points).
The Englishmen will hardly miss the chance to qualify for The World Cup in 2018. They are to visit Malta in the next round, which means almost sure 3 points. Then, the Gareth Southgate’s players will host Slovakia and Slovenia, before the final round’s match against Lithuania. The situation for Scotland is similar, as they will play the same opponents, but Scotland mustn’t drop any more points. Otherwise, they will omit another big international tournament.

Real Madrid won their 12th Champions League title! Los Blancos beat 4-1 Juventus in the final game in Cardiff. The Zinedine Zidane’s players won the match absolutely deservedly, totally outplaying their opponent.
That was the second final between these two teams in the competition. The first one was again won by Real Madrid in 1998. Los Blancos won it 1-0 with the only goal, scored by Predrag Mijatovic in the second half. This time, the Spaniards were even more persuasive. Cristiano Ronaldo opened the score with a first-time shot from inside the box in the 20th minute after an assist by Daniel Carvajal. Then, Juve managed to equalize. Mario Mandzukic scored with bicycle kick after a header pass by Gonzalo Higuain.
Then, after the break, Real Madrid started to play much more better and scored 3 more goals. Firstly, the Brazilian defensive midfielder Casemiro scored a magnificent goal from a long distance in the 61st minute. That goal was crucial for the outcome, as Juventus started to play more offensively. Just 3 minutes later, Cristiano Ronaldo scored his second of the night, giving Buffon no chance to react. 7 minutes before the end of the game, the referee Felix Brych sent Juan Cuadrado off, which totally decided the game. Then, the substitution Marco Asensio also put the ball into the net in the last minute, to fix the final score – 4-1 in Real Madrid’s favour.
Los Blancos won The Champions League in two consecutive campaigns. They won the last year’s final against Atletico Madrid after penalty shootout. However, Cristiano Ronaldo became the only player to score in 3 final games of the competition. That was his 4th title! The Portuguese forward has now scored 600 senior goals, including his 71 goals for the national team of Portugal.
In conclusion, Real Madrid proved they are the best team in Europe at the moment. Los Blancos managed to win the title in La Liga for the first time since 2012! That was their 33rd title of Spain. Since the rename of The European Cup to The Champions League (1992) there was no team to win the competition in 2 consecutive season. Well, Real Madrid finally did it – that makes them the greatest club in Europe.

This is maybe the end of the rumours about the Antoine Griezmann’s future. The explosive French forward has decided to stay at Atletico Madrid. The Frenchman was linked with a move to the English giant – Manchester United, but maybe it’s all over with the speculations.
To continue with, Griezmann’s decision may be dictated by the prohibition of incoming transfers to Atletico Madrid for the next season. Recently, the football association has banned the club from Madrid, because Atleti have unduly signed young players. It looked like it will be a serious problem for Atletico, because they would have sold their best player – Griezmann. In addition, they have almost signed the Lyon’s striker Alexandre Lacazette. However, with Griezmann’s dedication, the sanction doesn’t seem to be that harsh now.
The forward has published his photo, on one of the social medias, with the Atletico Madrid’s shirt, writing above it that he can’t leave his current team, because Atleti need him! The Frenchman has recently said that his chance to move to Manchester United are 60%, but now everything is clear and he will keep on playing for Atletico Madrid.
Antoine Griezmann is a player of Atletico Madrid since 2014, when he signed from Real Sociedad. Since then, he has taken part in 160 matches with the colours of Los Rojiblancos and has scored 83 goals for the club in all competitions. Shortly after arriving at Atletico, Griezmann became a first choice forward in the French national team. He has now scored 15 goals in 41 appearances for France.
In conclusion, we must say that Griezmann is an integral part of Atletico Madrid and the team won’t be the same if he leaves. He gives Atleti creativity and fantasy when playing for the team. In addition, his partnership with Kevin Gameiro in attack will be even more dangerous for the opponents’ defences in the next campaign, as they have a great understanding on the pitch.
